First of all, we congratulate Rogi on recording an unbeaten run-length of 356 correct answers in a row! That is a complete calendar year of posting correct answers on BB! Just awesome! Keep it up, Sire!

This question is a repeat and the above statement is total nuts.
I am never posting questions at 4AM again. EVAR!

Everyone gets points to for this question and the other question you see is a make-up question to remedy the repeat.

What are these people doing on this bridge (2) ?

The “official” unit to measure the length of the Harvard Bridge in Boston is the Smoot. 1 Smoot = Height of Oliver Smoot, who, measured the length of the Harvard bridge using his body as a fraternity pledge. The dude went on to become the chairman of ANSI, which makes it all the more funny that a non-standard unit of measurement is named after the head of a standards institution :)

An artist called Richard Box created this installation, simply called FIELD. It’s just a grid of tubelights planted in the ground under some high-tension powerlines. The tubes pick up ambient electricity and start glowing, creating this eerie effect.

Behold the auto correction robot: AutoRaja!

—devadutta @ 01:41

We have some really exciting news! We have successfully deployed a robot called “AutoRaja” on our servers which automatically moderates questions at the end of 3 days, assigns points and posts the answer!

AutoRaja uses a very sophisticated fuzzy search method to detect correct answers and assign points! (It is based on the Bitap algorithm, no less!)

Thanks to AutoRaja, from now on,

  • Scores will be up to date
  • Medals will be assigned on time and
  • Most importantly, answers come out automatically, so you dont have to wait!

Like all robots, AutoRaja can not yet replace humans, so we will review points assigned manually too. Until we do the review, you can see a note left by AutoRaja stating that the post was modded by it and not by humans. So, in case there is a discrepancy in scores, you know why.

Let us know what you think!

Also, we can make this project open source, if we get at least 50 comments on this post asking us to do it. Cleaning up code to release level is hard work :)
